Itinerary

Venice, Italy
The magnificent Serenissima, the City on the Lagoon is a watery maze of grand canals, 177 smaller canals and over 400 bridges. Venice's enticing, exotic beauty is typified by the Byzantine architecture, enormous stained glass windows rising along the Canale Grande and Venetian Carnival Masks with their wry smiles, attesting to the cities historic role as the great maritime power.

Dubrovnik, Croatia
Dubrovnik went down in history as one of the great sea republics under its former name of Ragusa. In its time, the city was Venice’s main rival. Take a walk through the old town and visit the fortress*, and you will get a clear impression of life in the Middle Ages. The former grandeur of long ago now makes for a bright and picturesque sight.

Corfu, Greece
The green island of the Ionian sea, is an open museum of cultures. It was a Corinthian colony in antiquity, but also a Macedonian, Roman, Byzantine, Venetian, French and English dominion. Corfu is a magical island combining the old with the modern, the classical with the eccentric, art with every-day life.

Lipari, Italy
Dominated by a fortified citadel, Lipari is capital of the seven volcanic Aeolian Islands. Lipari is deservedly famous for its natural and architectural beauty as it embraces some stunning panoramas, pumice stone quarries and a “Castello” built on the ruins of an ancient Greek acropolis. Not far from here we will be sailing round the forbidding yet impressive Stromboli, an active volcano which regularly erupts wreathing its summit in smoke.

Civitavecchia, Rome (Italy)
Civitavecchia was almost completely destroyed in the second world war. But it has been rebuilt since. The most important sights is the sixteenth-century Fort Michelangelo, built to the order of Pope Julius II Della Rovere.

Marseille, France
City in southern France, capital of Bouches-du-Rhône Department, on the Gulf of Lion (an arm of the Mediterranean Sea). The second largest city of France after Paris, it is a major seaport and an important commercial and industrial center. The city is linked by canal with the Rhône River and is served by extensive rail and air transport facilities.

Messina, Italy
Third biggest city in Sicily (after Palermo and Catania), seat of an archbishop and a university, is the place where rail and car travelers first set foot on Sicilian soil, greeted by the great statue of the Virgin Mary by the harbor.

Kotor, Montenegro
The lovely fortified town of Kotor is located at the end of a complex series of bays surrounded by limestone massifs in a magnificent region of Montenegro. An impressive city wall conceals the alleyways and palaces of a well preserved edieval centre which is a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Split, Croatia
his former imperial residence reveals all from the impressive fortified walls, towers, temples and palaces to the baths. A museum in itself, Split is a UNESCO World Heritage site and is home to Diocletian’s famous Palace.
